The Kukui Nut is a source for light and a measure of time. Extracted oil from the nut along with a wick made of kapa cloth were burnt in a stone oil lamp called kukui hele po. Roasted then mixed into a paste with salt, the Kukui Nut can be made into a Hawaiian condiment called 'Inamona. A main staple used in making Hawaiian Poke.
